COURSE DESCRIPTION (descrição)

This two-day course will review, in chronological order, all cardinal procedures performed in cleft lip and palate reconstruction. This will include primary and secondary reconstruction of the lip, nose, alveolus, and palate, pharyngeal surgery, fistula repair, alveolar reconstruction, orthognathic surgery, distraction osteogenesis, definitive rhinoplasty, and challenging cases.

This live activity will feature the international leaders in cleft care who will present, compare, and contrast the state-of-the-art techniques of the field. The course format will focus on the technical aspects of surgery and its indications, encouraging active discussion by the faculty and participants.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (objetivos)

After participating in this activity, clinicians should be able to:
• Describe the significant techniques of primary unilateral and bilateral cleft lip repair.
• Describe the cardinal techniques in primary cleft rhinoplasty, the indications of revision rhinoplasty, and the technical approach to mature cleft rhinoplasty.
• Describe ways to achieve comprehensive cleft care.

Surgeons, orthodontists, speech pathologists, and trainees actively involved or interested in the care of cleft lip and palate, including specialists in plastic surgery, otolaryngology, and oral and maxillofacial surgery.
