The Hospital for Rehabilitation of Craniofacial Anomalies, University of S\u00e3o Paulo (HRAC-USP)<\/strong> is a Research and Rehabilitation Center highly recognized in Brazil and worldwide. The natural vocation of our center is supporting research and education besides providing care on Craniofacial Anomalies.<\/span><\/p>\n

The interdisciplinary team of HRAC-USP<\/strong> spreads and generates new knowledge on craniofacial anomalies with the goal to benefit patients in all the country and outside. The Program of Post Graduation (Master and PhD) in Sciences of Rehabilitation has created a significant number of new professional and evidences, collaborating to the international scientific literature on craniofacial anomalies.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

The HRAC-USP<\/strong> was founded as a Interdepartamental Center from the Bauru Dental School (FOB-USP) in 1967 and became an autonomous Hospital in 1976, representing a Complementary Unit of the University of S\u00e3o Paulo. The Hospital provides multidisciplinary care to patients with cleft lip and palate and related craniofacial anomalies besides patients with audiological deficiencies. With time, HRAC-USP<\/strong> became a World-Class Center for the research and treatment of the above mentioned anomalies. In front of the acquired experience in patient care, the team professionals with a solid academic education have started producing research and teaching on Craniofacial Anomalies attending the three main goals of the University: Research, Education and Extension.<\/span><\/p>\n

Regarding Education, the HRAC-USP<\/strong> started to systematically offer Specialization courses and Residences in 1996. All the specialization courses are free of tuition and have the goal to form specialized professionals evolved in the multidisciplinary care of craniofacial anomalies: Physicians, Dentists, Speech Pathologists and Audiologists, Nurses, Psychologists, Physiotherapists, Nutritionists and Social Workers.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1998, the Hospital started offering Master and Doctoral Post graduation Programs in Sciences approved by the Brazilian Ministry of Education (CAPES) and by the Post graduation Counsel of the University of S\u00e3o Paulo. In 2003, the name of the program became Post Graduation Program in Sciences of Rehabilitation. In 2006, a unique area of concentration called Orofacial Clefts and related Anomalies embraced the mission of the HRAC-USP<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is important to highlight that the research and education programs determined that the institution was recognized as a Hospital for Education by the Ministry of Education and Health. This recognition has confirmed the academic vocation of HRAC-USP<\/strong> with positive repercussions to the consolidation of the PROGRAM OF POSTGRADUATION IN SCIENCES OF REHABILITATION.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Postgraduation Program in Sciences of Rehabilitation of the Hospital for Rehabilitation of Craniofacial Anomalies, University of S\u00e3o Paulo<\/strong>, aims in a wider manner to educate highly qualified human resources in the area of Orofacial cleft and Related Anomalies with academic-scientific principles in order to spread and generate new knowledge in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n

The interdisciplinary aim of this program, congregating many fields of health around the orofacial cleft problem seems to have a certain innovation in Brazil and in the World. In other national and international educational institutions, the cleft lip and palate is studied in disciplinary programs as Plastic Surgery, Dentistry or Speech Pathology. Our Post Graduation program includes all these fields aggregating also Genetics, Physiology, Psychology and Physiotherapy. All these fields interact both in the program disciplines and in interdisciplinary research projects.<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, the program aims to generate new trans and interdisciplinary knowledge in the health area in order to contribute to the rehabilitation of individuals with craniofacial anomalies, increasing the quality of the morphological reconstruction and functional outcomes, reducing the burden of care and promoting social inclusion.<\/span><\/p>\n
