OBJECTIVES:

To study the principles, protocols and steps of the interdisciplinary rehabilitation in complex patients with cleft lip and palate and related craniofacial anomalies.

With an interdisciplinary focus in orofacial clefts, to practice the specialties of Dentistry, Speech Pathology, Physiology applied to respiration, mastication and speech.

BACKGROUND:

The rehabilitation of orofacial clefts requires an interdisciplinary approach of many health specialties. The integration between many healthy fields are important for a better understanding and diagnosis of the morphological and functional irregularities.

The clinical procedures in patients with orofacial clefts should follow a protocol including only interventions that shows an adequate impact in the long term, avoiding the burden of care.

Professionals should avoid overtreatment. For a positive impact of the interventions and optimal cost-benefit ratio, it is important a specialized training of the health professional in a interdisciplinary environmental.

CONTENTS:

Interdisciplinary diagnosis and treatment planning in patients with orofacial clefts and craniofacial anomalies including cases with moderate/high complexity
• Techniques for diagnosis of morphological and functional irregularities in craniofacial anomalies including cases with moderate/high complexity
Interdisciplinary rehabilitation protocols of orofacial cleft and craniofacial anomalies including cases with moderate/high complexity
